Bonnie has never been outspoken about her photographs. I just know that camera snapping is in her blood. If we're late for a movie and running through the theater parking lot, and suddenly can't find Bonnie, that's because she has paused somewhere to catch a picture of the gorgeous sunset. That is just like Bonnie. So, I love Bonnie and her wonderful enjoyment of all the right things.

this novel by Haruki Murakami became quite the project...
i designed a box template and book jacket, just really utilized painting and experimentation.
enjoyed this quite thoroughly, and the strangeness of the novel- where talking cats and a Colonel Sanders coexist.

in addition, a flip book of 12 characters accompanies the package. The characters are cut into thirds to create new & bizarre imagery.

documenting the creation of a poster from start to finish.
this summer I saw the American Wind Symphony Orchestra perform in Goderich, Ontario.
They travel on a barge designed by Louis Kahn. They arrive at harbours, where the audience has brought lawn chairs. At night, the barge opens up much like a clam shell to reveal the seated players. It is a very dramatic and fun experience!

graphic novel "Cannery Kingdom"

This is the second project for my Portfolio class. Having struggled with graphic novels in the past, I tried to work in a more natural voice. My story had so many changes in the beginning, but I knew I wanted to use fantastical surreal imagery in a Dust Bowl age setting. Inspirations are mostly Dorothea Lange photography and Grapes of Wrath- movie and book.

The paintings are 12" X 15" acrylic on cold press illustration board. While painting, I tried to: begin with light wash, stay flexible, and relax. At someone's suggestion of staying painterly in this project, I feel it worked for me in the end.

my friend is working to organize a bunch of artists to create visual interpretations of canadian music we love. here are some sketch paintings- i like the songs "furniture" by final fantasy and "all fires" by swan lake. and i think yes... tcaf was so awesome. it was a real adventure to travel to toronto for the day and meet a whole slew of inspiring creators. i was lucky enough to first meet Aaron Leighton, a graduate of my program and now residing in Toronto. he was incredibly friendly!
then exchanged confused glances with a boy who later turned out to be a first year student at acad named Simon Roy. we've never spoken but somehow recognized each other, but he was there to promote his first comic book! wow!
last, i met Jillian and Mariko Tamaki. that completed my day. i read Skim on the train ride home and can say it's made a deep + haunting impression on me since.

this is a magic realist world created for my Environments class. heavily inspired by Salman Rushdie's book Haroun and the Sea of Stories. we were required to create at least 5 images describing interior, exterior, transportation, and atmosphere.

i really enjoyed this project, its process, and learned so much about Photoshop along the way!
